This is a charming painting that likely brings to light childhood memories. Of such are my own memories of family gatherings at my grandfather's home.  There are likely many viewers who have memories triggered by this painting.  It is a simple but well crafted painting. It is a common "Winter" theme found throughout many small and large communities in America.  It is so much like a Norman Rockwell painting where families gather to share and enjoy the company of multi generations. The red brick house might be an actual farmhouse, it could be a house in a neighborhood.  We don't know.  The house is beautiful, but the star of the show is the snowman.  Now that will trigger many memories. Where there is a snowman there are children and sometimes grandchildren. That was my childhood in winter months. Snowball fights with my siblings and my cousins. Sometimes my mother would join in.  It was great fun.
