You are looking at an absolutely beautiful "highly-realistic" professionally framed original oil on board/masonite wildlife painting by Thomas Hirata depicting a GOLDFINCH perching on a flowering plant in front of an old tree stump. This particular painting which is in "mint" condition was made into a limited-edition print by GREYSTONE PRESS back in the early to mid -1980's making it close to 40 years old. It was originally acquired from the SPORTSMAN'S EDGE GALLERY in New York City. Although no longer in business, SPORTSMAN'S EDGE was truly an exclusive art gallery in that they represented only the finest, and most well known wildlife artists at the time. Thomas Hirata was a member of the very selective Society of Animal Artists. Many of his original paintings have been made into collector plates by the HAMILTON COLLECTION, as well as limited-edition prints. He has also won a number of state duck stamp competitions over the years for his accurate portrayals of waterfowl. His paintings rarely come up for sale, and are not readily available on the marketplace. The details and measurements of this "work-of-art" are as follows: ARTIST SIGNED ON LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF PAINTING IMAGE SIZE: 8" x 10" FRAMED DIMENSIONS: 12" x 14" The original blue/grey wood "custom" frame fits this impressive "gem" of a painting perfectly. If you are a collector of fine quality original wildlife art you will not be disappointed. As I mentioned earlier, it is a rarity to see any Thomas Hirata originals available for sale since they are usually in wildlife art museums or private collections, so here is a unique opportunity to acquire one.
