Oil or gouache painting on board attributed to Thelma Johnson Streat, acquired at a Los Angeles estate auction. Possibly signed ‘Thelma Johnson’ and dated ‘40 or ‘46 in upper left. Subject may be Diego Rivera’s second wife Guadalupe Marin. Two small caricatures in pencil, possibly of Diego Rivera, on verso. If not Streat's work, it is at least a good example of Diego Rivera-adjacent portraiture, and can be definitively dated to the 1940s. Painting is in vintage condition with minimal evidence of handling and wear. Photos tell the whole story. Painting measures 13.5 x 10.5” Frame measures 17 x 14” See gallery photos, read full description, and ask questions prior to bidding or buying.
