DESCRIPTION: Very RARE MOBIL GARGOY LE PRODUCT MARKED
Antique Automobile Oil Bottle Metal Spout. Marked "MOBIL ARCTIC GARGOYLE, "E". I assume the "E" was a particular grade or viscosity of the oil, for use in certain climates. Gargoyle of course was Mobil's trade name for products for many years. Neat that it has not only the word Gargoyle, but also the dinosaur logo shape itself formed into the metal. Note: This is the spout itself, and does NOT include the screw on top. T his is the piece soldered on to the screw on top part. Scans show the antique Mobil spout. The oil bottles it was used on were used in
early automobiles to hold and dispense oil during oil changes and addition. Each had a long metal spout that screwed on the top for pouring. The glass containers were
reusable. Typically, oil was purchased in large cans or drums, then transferred
as needed to these bottles and kept ready for use in individual cars. These were typically used in the 1920's. Few of the screw-on spouts were marked, and even those only had the manufacturer's and patent date information. THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN WITH ANY TIES TO OR MARKINGS FOR A NAME BRAND LIKE MOBIL OIL!!! Measures 5 3/4" tall
overall. This is an extremely difficult-to-find IDENTIFIED antique auto or service station accessory, and you will not see them
for sale often, if ever. This would make a great gift or a nice display item for the discerning collector, and obviously a cool accessory to go with your antique car. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED
