PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION: Product Name: Palm Kernel Carrier Oil - Refined Botanical Name: Elaeis guineensis Synonyms: Elaeis guineensis var. madagascariensis, Elaeis madagascariensis, Elaeis melanococca INCI Name: Elaeis guineensis (palm) oil CAS #: 8023-79-8 Country of Origin: Ghana Palm Kernel oil is harvested from the kernels of the palm. Palm Kernel Oil is white, odorless and solid at room temperature. Has similar properties as coconut oil and can be used in place of coconut oil. Has a higher melting point (80 - 82 degrees). Also requires less lye than coconut oil without sacrificing hardness and lather. One of the most common oils used in soap making as it is high in lauric acid which makes a very hard bar of soap with high lather. Can speed up trace time in cold process soap making by pulling other oils into soponification more quickly. Also adds moisturizing properties to skin care products when used in moderation. COMPOSITION/ INFORMATION INGREDIENTS: Constituents: Lauric Acid: 47 – 51 Palmitic Acid: 6.5 – 11 Myristic Acid: 15 – 20 Oleic Acid: 5 – 10 PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES: Appearance: White to pale yellow solid Odor: Characteristic odor Solubility: Soluble in alcohol and oils. Insoluble in water.
