Harry Lang Barton (1908-2001) was an American painter and illustrator. Born in Cleveland and raised in Seattle, Barton trained as and worked professionally as a commercial artist on the West Coast. In his mid-thirties, he relocated his young family to New York to enable his study of fine art at the Art Students League. Once established in the new city, Barton again became a success in the illustration trade, producing book covers for Dell, Ace Books, Dial Press, and Farrar Straus & Co. At the same time he was painting oil landscapes and exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Salmagundi Club in New York.
