Element is stamped AC Replacement Element Type C-315 Made in U.S.A. Litho in U.S.A.
Ripped up instructions are dated 1944 -- instructions mention that type C-315 is for Purolator filter model PD-5402
My book shows a star next to this filter and mentions "Acid-proof glass cloth between filtering material and metal collector tube affords a second stage of filtration."
