Depicts Ottawa farmscape with pending snow storm. 25 inches H x 30 inches W. Signed lower right. Framed in 2.5 in wide wood and linen molding. Condition: Painting is in very good condition. Note: a number of small spot of paint flaking lower left. Martin J. Ferguson (Canadian-American 1908-1991) Martin was born in Canada and joined the Royal Canadian Air
Force making it a career. He traveled
the world. He was the designer of the Bacardi Rum label. After his military service he moved to Santa
Fe, NM where he continued to paint. In the 1960s he painted some abstract
paintings corresponding to Beethoven’s music. He donated a number of these
musical abstracts to a fund-raising sale for St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.
For a time he taught calligraphy at the College of Santa Fe. He painted scenes
from around the world including Ottawa, Canada, Santa Fe, NM, and Caracas,
Venezuela. He was very active in the
