Large Original Victorian Oil

This auction is for an excellent quality Victorian standard oil lamp holder. It dates to c1880 and originally would have been topped off with an ornate oil lamp reservoir holder/cup. It has been converted at some point in the past, c1930s, to act as an electric standard lamp. It would need re-wiring. The stem is an extendable one. In its un-extended state the bulb holder is 48 inches from the floor. The stem extends upwards to a height of 76 inches from the floor. The underside of the base is weighted.
I have left it un-polished, just cleaned it. It would all polish up shiny if desired, either way it is a stylish example of lighting history.
Coincidentally and from a completely different source I have also listed a cast brass oil lamp reservoir holder of the type that would have been on top of this standard lamp. Postage will be tracked and signed. This will be a heavy parcel and will be packed carefully using lots of rigid polystyrene and cardboard to ensure safe transit.
