Large 18th Historic Century Oil

MAGNIFICENT 18TH CENTURY OIL ON CANVAS PORTRAIT DIMENSIONS 28 1/4" x 23 3/4" sight size.  31 1/2" x 26 1/2" overall. DESCRIPTION The subject of this painting is believed to be Maria Anna von Bylandt (1711-1787), daughter of Arnold Christoph von Bylandt and Anna Maria Theresia von Ingelheim.  She was of the royal monastery nobility from the Franconian Middle Rhine region of Germany.  She spent her early childhood in the Schloss Rheydt palace in Rheydt, Monchengladbach, Westphalia, Germany, prior to entering the St. Adelheis Monastery in Vilich.  Later, she defied tradition by becoming a textile entrepreneur, producing linens, shirts, tablecloths, napkins and yarn goods. Painting is in the manner of German artist Johann Friedrich August Tischbein (1750-1812).  Shows the subject in regal attire, with powdered hair and long tresses falling to her shoulders. Framed in a period gilt and gesso frame CONDITION Overall very good.  Original 18th century stretcher.  Very little craquelure or paint loss from flaking.  Shows some evidence of in-painting, particularly in the lower right quadrant. Some paint loss from wear along the lower border (all visible in the images).  A FINE AND RARE 18TH CENTURY EUROPEAN NOBILITY PORTRAIT.
