K. Thomas I acquired this beautiful Thomas as part of an estate lot in NY's Hudson Valley and we believe the scene is an historical depiction of The Hudson River a hundred years ago when many moorings were still primitive poles set in the muddy bottom. Were it painted now, we’d more likely guess it is a Euro-scene, but the faded verso tells us this painting is more than 40 years old and less than 60 years old, making it the Hudson as are the other Thomas works I’ve seen or owned/sold. This Thomas is unusual compared to the others. It is twice the size of the Thomas I sold several years ago. And, whereas all Thomas works I’ve seen had brightly colored sails and colored dock buildings, this Thomas is a gray, foggy, early-morning time when the gulls and other wildlife own the place before the fishermen arrive. The style is a combination Impressionism & Realism and the overall view is a calming sense of boats resting at their moorings, typically Thomas. The painting and the frame are in excellent condition and would be a great addition to a collection of seaside or marine art. Again, we know from the faded verso that it is about 50 years old. Yet, the painting and the frame are perfect. The last work I sold by this artist was only an 8 x 10 unframed canvas and it sold in 2016 for $100. I'm offering this wonderfully moody 18 x 20 Thomas oil on canvas beautifully perfectly framed to 20 x 25 for $299 or Best Offer. Please see my gallery by clicking on “see store’ above.
