Herons are widely distributed over the world but are most common in the tropics. They usually feed while wading quietly in the shallow waters of pools, marshes, and swamps, catching frogs, fishes, and other aquatic animals. They nest in rough platforms of sticks constructed in bushes or trees near water; the nests usually are grouped in colonies called heronries. Herons commonly stand with the neck bent in an S shape. They fly with the legs trailing loosely and the head held back against the body, instead of stretching the neck out in front as most birds do. Hand carved on several joined monkey pod wood panels by craftsman in Chiang Mai Thailand. Finished with natural Clear wood oil. Has two embedded hangers on the back bar to mount onto your wall. Hand rubbed in natural nontoxic Clear tone oil that is polished to a matte finish. Color is the woods natural self! medium to dark brown tones that will darken as the wood ages. *Please Note* There will be various separations or cracks and color will vary from the pictures depicted for every single piece. This does not compromise the structural performance or integrity of the wood and is considered inherent to the natural beauty of the design.
