EXCEPTIONAL ANTIQUE CALIFORNIA PLEIN AIR LANDSCAPE IMPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS BY REVERED CALIFORNIA PAINTER GEORGE SANDERS BICKERSTAFF. (American 1893-1954). THIS WORK DEPICTS THE STARK BEAUTY OF THE CALIFORNIA DESERT. THE ARID DESERT STRETCHES OUT WITH SPARSE VEGETATION AND SANDY TERRAIN BACKED BY DREAMY FLOATING CLOUDS. IN THE DISTANCE, MAJESTIC MOUNTAINS RISE AGAINST THE HORIZON WITH A HAZY APPEARANCE, ADDING A SENSE OF SCALE AND DIMENSION TO THE PAINTING. SIMPLY AMAZING. SIGNED BY BICKERSTAFF IN THE LOWER RIGHTHAND CORNER. EXCELLENT OVERALL CONDITION. THE FRAME HAS SCRATCHES AND WEAR, AS SHOWN.
