Allan (1927-2013) Donald Allan was born in Springville, Utah, served in the military during World War II, was a missionary, and attended Brigham Young University. He is a well listed artist, highly cherished for his classic realist style of oil paintings with soft glazes of color in his small still lifes and other subjects including portraits and landscapes as well. After marrying Thora Whiting in 1950, Don and Thora moved to New York City in 1951 allowing Don to study art at the National Academy of Art, the Art Students League, and the Salamagundi Club. When living in NYC, Don worked as an art restorer at Arnot Gallery in Manhattan. Years later he studied at the Porte Royale in Paris, France. In his 60-year career as a fine artist, he sold thousands of paintings thereby enriching the lives of his collectors. He also was awarded numerous prizes and medals for his painting in various art shows and competitions including the 1978 Bronze Medal from the National Academy of Art in New York City.
