David Phillip Levine (1910 - 2005): Born in South Pasadena, CA, he studied at USC and with Barse Miller and Stanley Reckless at the Art Center School in Los Angeles. In 1940, Levine moved to Mexico City, and then to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, refining his painting technique and exploring other media -- aquatint, monotype and woodcutting. Upon his return to Los Angeles in 1941, Levine worked as a technical artist in the aircraft industry, while at home he created paintings related to the tempo that surrounded him in the war time factories. His paintings are in private collections and in the collections of the Orange County Museum of Art, Laguna Beach Museum of Art and the Davis Museum at Wellesley College (Massachusetts).
