ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STAR H B & H PULL DOWN HANGING OIL LAMP HB&H PATENT 1881 and 1882 the burner knob is stamped STAR II H B&H (Holmes Booth & Haden) very rare the oil cap is not original and appears to be glued on so you would need to unscrew the burner to fill the oil. it does not currently have a wick it has patent dates of 1881 and 1882 on the pieces as shown in the pictures I did not use any chemicals on it to remove the patina as some like to keep it that way the weight system works the shade is spun glass and measures 13 7/8 inches wide 5 inches tall with a beautiful cabin scene painted on it. A beautiful Sandwich milk glass shade from Sandwich Glass Company in Sandwich Mass. circa 1875 the frame is 11 inches wide 14 1/4 inches long it has a hook on the weight for a smoke bell but there is not one included the weighted system maximum pull down from top hanger to hooks is 27 inches adding hanger length would be 41 1/4 inches from the ceiling to the base of the frame the weight outer metal covering has a 1 1/4 inch vertical crack at the top.
