Antique Oil

Just a lovely little winter scene - a hunter out in the vast winter wonderland rifle in hand and cute happy little doggy at his side. Happy thoughts always accompany me while I view this piece. I try to be very selective when I pick up oil paintings and I'm happy with this piece and I think you will enjoy it as well. Standard size 16x22 in very good condition could be hung as is but would benefit from a nice frame and I think it deserves it. I use unframed paintings and set them on dressers or large shelves and place items in front of them, but you do as you wish. I handle a lot of paintings and when inspecting this I noticed the stretcher strips have a top edge to them so the canvas on the front only touches about an 1/8th in of the stretcher instead of resting across the 1 1/2 wide board. And the iron plaques on the back that hold the strips firm are patent dated 1880s I have to assume this was a better quality piece for the time.
