this is a gorgeous antique impressionistic Adirondack School oil painting of a large waterfall located in a dense forest flowing down over some large rocks & boulders to a stream below the waterfall - from the looks of the foliage, it appears to be a scene from mid-summer or early fall - also, from the looks of the flowing waterfall & the rocks beside it, it would also appear that the waterfall had been wider at the top earlier in the year - the painting probably has been professionally restored & re-varnished in the past to bring out the wonderful forest colors that the very talented artist originally intended as the colors are vivid & bold - the painting itself measures 14" x 22" sight size & is in very good antique condition - it is greatly enhanced by its original elaborate gilded gesso on wood frame which is somewhat heavy & measures 21" x 32" - the canvas itself is tight & has its original wooden "keys" in each corner to keep the canvas tight - this painting can be picked up at my home in Swanzey, NH to save on shipping cost -
