this is a wonderful antique c.1920's oil on artist board painting depicting an Adirondack lake somewhere up in New York State which was filled with small islands - the very talented but unknown artist was quite adept at creating lush green & brownish-red foliage all around the lake & on the very small islands - he also was very capable of painting the realistic shadows given off by the foliage & boulder-laden small islands upon the water surrounding the islands - the artist also created a great sense of depth to the painting by showing a mountain range far off in the distance seen by the viewer through a hazy mist between the mountains & the lake - as the viewer looks towards the back of the lake, the viewer sees the islands as smaller & smaller to further create a sense of distance from the front of the lake - the painting measures 10 1/2" x 18 1/2" sight size, & is in very good antique condition as it was professionally cleaned of its gritty, dirty, & smokey old varnish in the past, & re-varnished to protect the painted surface - the painting may have its original frame on it which measures 12" x 20" & which is in very good vintage/antique condition -
