Circa 1850s-60s glass whale oil lamp. This appears to fall into place between the Free-Blown lamps with a pontil and flat base, and the Prism Base mold-blown lamps that soon followed, which are pictured on pages 79-80 of the Thuro book. This lamp is not pictured. There are no chips or cracks in the glass, but there are lots of original flaws and bubbles in the glass. The underside of the base has significant wear scuffs from use, which we expect to find on old glass lamps. Please see all photos and contact us with any questions. Measures 6-1/2" with a 4" diameter base. The collar is 7/8" for a #1 burner.
