Circa 1950 s Oil Painting Landscape near Algonquin Illinois by Sanders
Item Description
Nicely painted impressionist oil painting on board by Chicago artist Harvey Sanders. Titled "Old Landmark" and depicts an old gnarled tree along the roadside. Circa 1950’s. Signed lower right “H. Sanders”. Old paper label on back for Harvey Sanders Studio, 400-410 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago (Wrigley Building). "Old Landmark - Rte 25 (E. River Rd) & Church Rd, near Turner Camp". The Turners have an interesting history, I had never heard of them before stumbling across this painting. Dedicated to developing "Sound Minds and Sound Bodies" they created a camp along the Fox River near Cary, Algonquin, Illinois. In carved wood frame. Measures 28in x 24in overall and 19.5in x 15.5in image only. Condition: painting is in excellent vintage condition, matting is lightly soiled.
