This is a great example of an antique whale oil lamp with all the parts intact, especially after 250+ years. The lamp is made of mostly bronze or brass, and the bottom is weighted to prevent accidents. It has a curved wire attached to a chain that's secured to the lid. I've pictured the wire hanging and in the spout. Im not sure what it was used for, but it may have been used to clean the oil spout. The lamp measures 10.5" high and 7" wide. There are no makers marks found. This lamp is a very nice piece of history and in very good, used condition. It would be a great conversation piece or to use if you can find whale oil. Thanks for looking.
